Priest: Discipline and Shadow

Priest spends mana. The independent database calls the model a human priest, single source. Discipline is the healing spec. Its named tools are Penance, Pain Suppression, Power Infusion, Leap of Faith and Life Swap. Shadow is the pressure spec: Mind Flay, Vampiric Touch, Silence, Dispersion, Shadowform, Shadow Crash, Mindgames and Psychic Horror. Shared spells include Flash Heal, Heal, Renew, Power Word: Shield, Dispel Magic, Psychic Scream, Smite, Shadow Word: Pain, Fear Ward, Mana Burn, Mind Blast and Shadow Word: Death.

Version 0.12 is the priest patch I trust for behaviour, not just names. Pressing Power Word: Shield while in Shadowform drops Shadowform. Discipline’s Life Swap talent replaces Rapture. Shadow’s Psychic Horror talent replaces Void Shift. Version 0.21 does not list a priest damage change. The queue tries to separate healers when possible. An extra healer waits only while another player can take that place; otherwise the match proceeds. A premade party chooses its own healers and they are excluded from this balancing rule. This is not a one-healer cap. Discipline is one of those healers, alongside Holy paladin, Restoration druid and Restoration shaman.

I have no Discipline-versus-Shadow sample. A shield spec and a damage spec are not the same job, so a single priest tier would be meaningless even if a ladder existed. No public source found as of 2026-10-30 for healing done per match.

Discipline

Discipline is the healing specialization, with Penance and Pain Suppression among its named tools. Life Swap replaces Rapture in the 0.12 talent update; it is not an additional unchanged Rapture option.

Shadow

Shadow is the damage specialization, with Mind Flay, Shadowform and Vampiric Touch. Casting Power Word: Shield leaves Shadowform under the 0.12 rule; Psychic Horror replaces Void Shift.
