Maps

Three live arenas

Three maps are in the live rotation. Nagrand Ring has been there since 0.1. Ruins of Lordaeron joined in 0.4. Blade's Edge joined in 0.15. From 0.4 onward a match picks a map at random. A fourth name, Proving Grounds, exists in the client as a test map. The source comment says it is not in rotation. I will not list four live maps.

Nagrand Ring uses four large pillars to break line of sight, and the teams start opposite each other. Stands were added in 0.14 and do not change the fight. Ruins is a graveyard courtyard with a central tomb, poison pools, and stands around the edge. Blade's Edge is a log bridge over a gravel pit, with ramps, height that counts for spells, and no fall damage.

From 0.12, area spells respect pillars. That rule is why the Nagrand columns matter for more than bolt casters. The numerical dimensions previously quoted come from a Proving Grounds test-map comment that describes only an approximate resemblance to Blade’s Edge. They are not verified dimensions of the live map and are omitted here.
