2v2

2v2 role sketches

Two shapes cover what the public notes actually support. A healer plus a damage dealer has someone to answer focus. A double-damage pair has to create that answer with control and defensives instead. The independent database describes 2v2 in those words. It does not attach a win rate, and neither will I.

Healer plus melee is the sketch where a Discipline priest, Holy paladin, Restoration druid or Restoration shaman stands behind a Warrior, Retribution paladin, Enhancement shaman, Feral druid or Rogue. Healer plus caster swaps the front line for a Mage, Warlock, Hunter or Balance druid. I am listing legal pairings of roles, not teams I watched win. Double damage, for example two of those damage specs, is the third sketch. It falls over if neither player can stop a setup, which is a warning, not a statistic.

Version 0.21 limits each caster’s Polymorph, Fear, Cyclone or Sap to one target per spell: casting that spell on someone new releases your previous target. Hex, Repentance, Blind and Seduction follow the same rule. This does not prevent two teammates from controlling different enemies, or prove that different control spells share one global limit. The queue tries to separate healers when possible. An extra healer waits only while another player can take that place; otherwise the match proceeds. A premade party chooses its own healers and they are excluded from this balancing rule. This is not a one-healer cap.

Questions

Is warrior plus priest the best 2v2?

No. It is one healer-plus-melee shape. There is no win rate.

Can both of us play healer?

Yes. The 0.21 notes explicitly exempt a party’s own healers. Solo queue tries to separate healers only when an alternative player is available.

Did control get worse for 2v2?

The same caster cannot keep their same long-control spell on two enemies; recasting releases their earlier target. That alone does not rank a comp or prevent teammates coordinating control.
