Patch 0.16 Closer Quarters

Closer Quarters, version 0.16, is dated 28 Oct 2026. Long-range spells get shorter. The general range rule is 35 to 30 metres, 40 to 32, and 50 to 40, while spells already at 30 metres or less stay unchanged. The mage spells listed here move from 35 to 30 metres. Ice Barrier, Mana Shield, Icy Veins and Combustion become dispellable magic. Wrath and Moonfire drop to 30 metres. Barkskin and Nature’s Swiftness can be dispelled. Beacon of Light is listed at 32 metres. Divine Shield can be used while stunned, feared or silenced. Cyclone is the exception the note calls out. Avenging Wrath and Divine Favor can be dispelled.

This is also the build that starts splitting healers across the two teams. Parties stay together, even if they chose two healers. Version 0.21 later makes an extra solo healer wait only when another player is available; otherwise the match proceeds. When you read a comp guide, do not credit 0.21 with inventing the split. Spectators begin to see the bar of the player they are following. That is a viewing change, described on the spectating page.

Distances in this entry are metres, not yards. For class-specific spells, use the client changelog linked below; these published ranges are not measurements taken in a match.

Questions

Who started healer splitting?

Version 0.16. Version 0.21 only changes what happens to extra healers.

Can Divine Shield break a stun?

Yes, from 0.16, and also fear and silence. Cyclone is excluded.

Did every spell lose range?

The note names some. I am not applying the cut to spells it skips.
